The December school holidays are about ten weeks away and fares are climbing. Here is how a flights to India payment plan lets you book now and pay as you go.
At a glance: what is PayLite?
PayLite is Mann Travel’s flights to India payment plan. You choose your flights, pay a low initial deposit, spread the remaining balance over up to 26 weekly instalments, and complete your payments before you fly. It is available on selected refundable fares and is powered by Cashwo. Queensland schools finish on 11 December, Victoria and NSW on 18 December. Booking now on PayLite locks in today’s fare for the summer break.
Why December flights to India cost more the longer you wait
Every summer, families across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide head home to India for the long school break. They all want to fly in the same two weeks of December and come back in the same week of January.
The cheaper fare classes close first. So the fare you can see today, in early October, is usually lower than the fare you will see in November for the same flight.
The problem for many families is simple. The best time to book is now, but the money is not always ready now. School fees, Diwali gifts and the usual end-of-year bills all land in the same quarter.
That is exactly the gap PayLite is designed to fill.
How PayLite works, step by step
PayLite follows four steps. Our team sets it up for you when you book.
Step | What happens | What it means for you |
1 | Choose your flights with Mann Travel | Search live fares online or call us. Tell us you want PayLite and we will confirm whether your fare is eligible. |
2 | Pay a low initial deposit | Your seats are secured at today’s fare. You do not need the full amount up front. |
3 | Spread the remaining balance over instalments | The balance is split into weekly instalments, up to 26 weeks. The number of weeks depends on how far away your departure is. |
4 | Complete payments before your trip | Your final instalment is paid before you fly, so you travel with nothing owing. |
Payments are handled by Cashwo, the payment platform behind PayLite. Our team will give you the full terms for your booking, including the deposit, the weekly amount and the payment dates, before you commit.
PayLite vs Afterpay vs paying in full
Mann Travel accepts major credit and debit cards, Afterpay and PayLite. Here is how the three options compare for a December trip to India.
| PayLite | Afterpay | Pay in full |
Up front | Low initial deposit | Set by Afterpay at checkout | The whole fare |
Then | Weekly instalments, up to 26 weeks, finished before you fly | Afterpay’s own instalment schedule and terms | Nothing more to pay |
Fares | Selected refundable fares | Fares that meet Afterpay’s limits and terms | Any fare |
Best for | Families booking weeks or months ahead who want to spread a larger total | Travellers who already use Afterpay and want a short schedule | Anyone who has the full fare ready and wants the simplest option |
Who runs it | Mann Travel, powered by Cashwo | Afterpay | Mann Travel |
Afterpay’s schedule and terms are set by Afterpay, not by us. Check them before choosing it.
A worked example, in words
Take a Brisbane family of four booking flights home to Delhi for the Queensland holidays. Today, Brisbane to Delhi fares start from AUD $647 per person one-way (checked 2 October 2026, prices change daily). For four people that is a little under AUD $2,600 for the outbound leg alone, before the return flights are added.
Paying that in full in early October is a stretch for many households. With PayLite, the family pays the low initial deposit now and their seats are held at today’s fare. The remaining balance is split into weekly instalments.
Here is the part people miss. PayLite allows up to 26 weeks, but every instalment must be paid before you fly. A family leaving in mid-December has roughly ten weeks, so they would make roughly ten weekly payments, not 26. Book earlier, and the same balance spreads over more weeks and the weekly amount drops. That is why October, not November, is the month to set up PayLite for a December trip.
Who PayLite suits, and who it does not
PayLite works well for:
Families booking three or more seats, where the total is large and spreading it matters.
Travellers booking two to six months ahead, who can use more of the 26 weeks.
Anyone who wants a refundable fare anyway, since PayLite is built around selected refundable fares.
Students and education staff, who can also join MannPass for free and take an extra AUD $25 off eligible return flights to India.
PayLite is probably not for you if:
You are flying in the next few weeks. There is little time left to spread payments, so paying in full or Afterpay may be simpler.
You want the lowest non-refundable fare on the screen. Those fares are usually not eligible.
Your plans are not fixed. Confirm your dates and names first, then set up the plan.
5 things to check before you commit to a payment plan
1. Your departure date and the number of weeks
Count the weeks between today and your flight. That sets how many instalments you can have and roughly what each one will be.
2. Your fare type
Ask us to confirm that your fare is eligible and what refundable means for your ticket.
3. The full terms for your booking
Before you pay the deposit, read the PayLite terms our team sends you. Check the deposit, the weekly amount, the payment dates and anything that applies if a payment is missed.
4. Your passports and visas
Make sure every passport is valid for the trip. Australian passport holders need an Indian visa or OCI card. Apply through the official Indian visa website well before you fly, and keep the names on your booking identical to your passports.
5. Your route
A payment plan locks in the fare, so choose the itinerary carefully. If you are flying from Queensland, our Brisbane to Delhi route guide compares the one-stop options and journey times.
Booking the family's summer trip
A few practical notes for families using PayLite this summer:
Book everyone on one booking. One plan, one set of payments, seats together.
Fly out early if you are in Queensland. Schools finish on Friday 11 December, a week before Victoria and New South Wales, so you can beat the biggest wave of demand.
Set a reminder for your payment day. A weekly transfer on payday is the easiest way to stay on track.
