No non-stop flight yet, but plenty of good one-stop options. Here is how to choose the right one, and when to book for the summer school holidays.
Quick answer: how do I fly from Sydney to Hyderabad?
There is no non-stop flight between Sydney and Hyderabad. You will connect once, usually through Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, a Gulf hub or Delhi. Total journey times run from about 14 to 24 hours depending on the route. Fares on manntravel.com.au start from AUD $629 per person (checked 11 October 2026, prices change daily). For December travel, book now. Seats for the NSW summer holidays go early every year.
Is there a non-stop flight from Sydney to Hyderabad?
Not at the moment. We checked airline schedules again this week and there is still no non-stop service between Sydney and Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA). Every option involves one stop.
That is not bad news. Hyderabad is well served by the big connecting airlines, so you have a real choice of routes, layover lengths and prices. The trick is picking the one that suits your family, not just the lowest fare on the screen.

Delhi | Air India | From about 14 hours | Non-stop Sydney–Delhi, then a short domestic hop. Extra Sydney flights start in December 2026. |

Which route should you pick?
Shortest trip: via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. You land in Hyderabad the next day with one layover of a few hours.
Travelling with elderly parents: the Asian hubs again. A shorter total journey and a single terminal change is easier on everyone.
Lowest fare on your dates: it moves around. In peak weeks, the Gulf carriers or Air India via Delhi can be the better deal. Ask us to compare all six.
When to book for the summer school holidays
NSW public school Term 4 ends on Thursday 17 December 2026 (NSW Department of Education calendar). The summer break then runs through to the start of February 2027. For most families that means flying out between 17 and 22 December and coming back in the second half of January.
Those dates are the busiest of the year on Australia–India routes. Christmas travellers, students heading home and Sankranti visitors all want the same seats. Here is a simple guide.
| When you book | What to expect | Our advice |
| Now to end of October | Best remaining choice | Book now. You can still pick airline, hub and dates. |
| November | Fares rising, popular dates thin | Be flexible by a day or two either side of 17 December. |
| December | Peak prices, limited seats | Call us. We often find routings that do not show in a quick search. |
If the full fare is not ready today, PayLite lets you lock in your seats with a low deposit and pay the rest in up to 26 weekly instalments on selected refundable fares. Afterpay is also accepted.
Arriving at Hyderabad airport: what to expect
RGIA sits at Shamshabad, well south of the city. Most families are heading to Kukatpally, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Secunderabad or Dilsukhnagar, so plan the last leg before you land.
1. Pre-paid taxi or app cab
The airport runs a pre-paid taxi counter with fixed fares by destination, plus radio taxis and Ola, Uber and Rapido pick-up zones. For a family with luggage, this is the easiest option.
2. Pushpak airport bus
TGSRTC’s Pushpak buses run between the airport and many parts of the city, including Secunderabad’s Jubilee Bus Station, and fares on several routes were cut this month. Good value if you are travelling light and someone is meeting you at the other end.
3. Use the Outer Ring Road
Ask your driver to take the Outer Ring Road where it helps. It skips a lot of inner-city traffic on the way to the western suburbs and Secunderabad. An airport metro line is being built but was not open when we checked.
4. Arriving late at night?
Several of the routes above land in Hyderabad between 10 pm and midnight. Pre-book your cab or have family collect you. The airport also offers a mobility service for wheelchair users and senior citizens. Ask us to request assistance when you book.
